I was born in Eldorado, Illinois and raised in Cave-In-Rock, Illinois. I went to Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg, Illinois studying computer networking. After graduation, I grew disillusioned and moved to Bishop, California for six months. Then to Reno, Nevada to receive my culinary arts degree and traded my G.E.D. for a high school diploma from Sierra Nevada High School.
I moved back to Southern Illinois and started a job at Galaxy Enterprise Computers with owner and friend Joe Potts. After a few years he offered the business to me, but I didn’t take him serious. I regretted that lost opportunity and was laid off for some months.
I received a call from a client whom I used to repair their computers. Billy Bradley was the owner of Rocky’s Advance Printing, a small shop in Eldorado, Illinois. I was surprised to learn that my computer skills to repair their computers was not needed but that their graphic artist and layout girl had left them in a hole and I was asked to fill that hole. I told them I had no idea what I was doing but I’d take it.
Some years later the shop was for sale and this time I made sure I’d not be duped again on such an opportunity. I bought the shop and renamed it Graf Ink Printing.
